TOWN OF LOS GATOS
COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
MEETING DATE: 06/06/2023 ITEM NO: 8
DATE: May 22, 2023
TO: Mayor and Town Council
FROM: Laurel Prevetti, Town Manager
SUBJECT: Authorize the Town Manager to Accept the Holiday Light Displays as
Donations to the Town From the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Town Manager to accept the holiday light displays (Attachment 1) as donations
to the Town from the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce.
BACKGROUND:
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in March of 2020, Town Council has been
supportive of efforts to improve economic recovery and community vitality to the downtown
stakeholders. One of the steps was granting the Chamber of Commerce up to $150,000 to
partner with the Town on holiday light displays installed throughout the Town.
DISCUSSION:
While the Town purchased most of the holiday light displays during this effort, the Chamber of
Commerce purchased approximately $5,700 of the displays. The Chamber of Commerce would
like to donate the balance of these displays to the Town so that the Town can include them in
maintenance and storage with the rest of the displays and continue to use them in future years.
This action complies with the Town’s Solicitation and Donation Policy (Attachment 2).

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. The Proposed FY 2023/24 Operating
Budget includes funding for the holiday lights storage rental and light supplies.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
