Chief Development Officer, City of San Jose, Office of Mayor Sam Liccardo (February 2022- Present)
• Lead a policy team working on issues of education, youth, women, and workforce development. Notable projects have included addressing the formula shortage, understanding how the City of San Jose can support women seeking abortions after the overturn of Roe v. Wade, expanding subsidized childcare access and facilities with $10.5 million in American Recovery Plan (ARP) funds, and a $2 million RFP for tutoring services, also from ARP funds.
• Manage a team of three policy advisors and provide professional development opportunities and guidance on career pathways for the end of the Mayor’s term.
• In six months, raise over $1 million in funds to support San Jose (SJ) Aspires, a college access program for first generation college-going students, including multi-year 6-figure gifts.
• Prospect and solicit 100 corporate funders for supporting key initiatives for Mayor Liccardo.
• Facilitate C-suite meetings for the Mayor to make fundraising pitches for SJ Aspires.
• Collaborate with the SJ Public Library and San Jose Public Library Foundation to ensure the sustainability of San Jose Aspires and facilitate its transition for the end of Mayor Liccardo's term.
Senior Corporate Philanthropy Officer, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley (September 2016-February
2022)
• Steward a portfolio of 70 corporate donors like Apple, Google, and Facebook, raising a total of $21 million, with the largest gift secured being over $1,000,000.
• Act as a strategic partner to my Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contacts to help them achieve their community and employee engagement goals.
• Spearheaded projects to advance organizational level goals and build synergy with Corporate Partners, including implementing volunteer activities for corporate campuses and pivoting to accommodate volunteer activities during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place.
• Led the revamp our corporate sponsorship program to incorporate attractive benefits to corporations and streamline our internal processes to better stewards our resources; these changes led to a 12%
increase in revenue from corporate sponsorships.
• Prospect and solicit potential partners for six figure and multi-year gifts
• As a leader on the team, I acted as a thought partner to the Corporate Philanthropy Manager in strategic planning for the corporate program and day-to-day operations for the team, and mentor and train new hires to the Corporate Team, including best practices in fundraising, advising on different
scenarios with corporate partners, and shadowing company pitches to provide feedback.

• Created and managed Speaker’s Bureau, a core group of 15 volunteers to aid in Next Door Solutions’ outreach and education programs in the community.

• Plan events for the Center for South Asia, each quarter, which consists of 2 to 3 workshops and symposiums a quarter and a weekly lecture program.

• Managed a core group of 7 volunteers to assist with welcoming members at monthly luncheons, host and lead four affinity groups on different fundraising topics and organize two chapter mixers.
