SUBJECT: Adopt a Resolution to Modify the General Plan Committee Meeting Frequency.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution to modify the General Plan Committee (GPC) meeting frequency.
BACKGROUND:
The current enabling resolution for the GPC (Exhibit 1) states that the GPC shall hold regular
meetings at least once a month, consistent with previous enabling resolutions from 2016 and
1998. In 2001, the GPC adopted a resolution setting the time and place for GPC meetings
(Exhibit 2) which established bi-monthly meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of
each month at 5:30 p.m.
DISCUSSION:
As part of the Town of Los Gatos’ continuing efforts to increase efficiency, staff is
recommending a review of the frequency of regular meetings of the GPC, and consideration of
a reduced number of regular meetings each year.
Due to the limited scope of the types of projects reviewed by t he GPC, the need for public
meetings is infrequent. The following table shows the number of GPC meetings held annually
over the last 10 years.

Staff recommends rescinding the Time and Place Resolution (Exhibit 2) adopted by the GPC in
2001, and adopting a new resolution establishing regular GPC meetings on the second
Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. (Exhibit 3).

DISCUSSION (continued):
This change would reduce by half the staff work required to prepare, review, and post the
cancellations of GPC meetings. The proposed meeting frequency would be more aligned with
the enabling resolution and other committees that meet monthly, including Conceptual
Development Advisory Committee and Historic Preservation Committee.

This is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.

RESOLUTION OF THE GENERAL PLAN COMMITTEE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
AMENDING THE TIME AND PLACE RESOLUTION OF THE
GENERAL PLAN COMMITTEE
AND RESCINDING GENERAL PLAN COMMITTEE RESOLUTION 2001-1
WHEREAS, the enabling resolution for the General Plan Committee (Resolution 2021-
042) states that the General Plan Committee shall hold regular meetings at least once a month
as deemed necessary by the Community Development Director; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, the General Plan Committee adopted Resolution 2001-1 to establish
regular General Plan Committee meetings on the second and fourth Wednesday of every
month; and
WHEREAS, the frequency of items that require General Plan Committee review does not
warrant bi-monthly meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE GENERAL PLAN COMMITTEE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954, the time and place for the regular meetings of
the General Plan Committee shall be as follows:
