Subject: 223 Tait Avenue New Construction Design
EXTERNAL SENDER
Hello Sean:
I am writing to you, as I could not find email address information for the individuals or group as
a whole, for the Historic Preservation Committee. I hope you will pass this message along to
them, as I am not able to attend the meeting today.
I read the report in total regarding the proposed demolition and rebuilding of the 223 Tait
residence as preliminarily proposed by Mark and Tammy DeMattei and drawn by Jay Plett. At
this time my concern is that the arts and craft style home proposed, with the stone veneer and
porch details, low pitched roof design, and stucco finish with inlaid wood lintels, will not fit well
into the existing, mostly Victorian and Victorian style homes in the neighborhood and in
particular the 200 block of Tait Avenue.
Although I do respect the work of Jay Plett and Mark DeMattei, I do not think this particular
design is right for the neighborhood. It will look out of place and too modern in this
neighborhood. I would suggest a more Victorian design to fit in with the other homes and blend
in rather than stand out.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best Regards,
Dennis Grist
