AUTO DEALERSHIPS
RECOMMENDATION:
The April 25, 2002 Council Study Session Agenda Report indicates that several auto dealers have
left the Town of Los Gatos. The following provides additional information on this subject:
McHugh Lincoln Mercury: The dealership relocated to Capital Expressway Auto Mall in the fall of
2001. Swanson Ford has since leased the property and will use it for truck sales and body shop
operations.
Nissan Volvo: This dealership closed in the early 1990's. After sitting vacant for several years, the
property was redeveloped with an Office Depot store.
Chrysler Dealer: This dealership on Blossom Hill Rd. closed in the early 1990's. This property is
now leased by Los Gatos Auto Mall which sells new Hummers and high end, previously owned
vehicles.
Other Ownership Changes: It is staff's understanding that the Honda, Acura, and Chevrolet
dealerships have gone through ownership changes in the last ten years, but the brand of vehicles sold
has remained the same.
