SUBJECT: DOWNTOWN LANDSCATE PLANTERS:
1. APPROVE PEDESTRIAN LIGHT STANDARD FOR DOWNTOWN.
2. APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR LANDSCAPE PLANTERS ON
SANTA CRUZ AVENUE.
DISCUSSION:
Agency member Benjamin raised several questions about the Downtown Streetscape Plan and the proposed pedestrian
lights. Her questions are listed below followed by a brief response.
1. When was the Downtown Streetscape Plan approved by Council? It was approved April 15, 1996.
2. Can the pedestrian lights be damaged? The lights that are recommended are identical to the lights at the Plaza.
These lights have not been vandalized any more than the tall street lights.
3. How much will the lights cost? How much will they cost to operate? The lights cost about $1,200 and will
cost about $8 per month to operate.
The pedestrian lights were included in the Streetscape Plan to increase public safety. Attached is the report about the
Downtown Streetscape Plan as well as the minutes.
