RE: 9&11 MONTEBELLO WAY REQUEST FOR HPC REVIEW
Dear Historic Preservation Committee,
Enclosed please find plans indicating the building at 9&11 Montebello Way was constructed in 1956.
Since the criteria for LHP review are for buildings that existed prior to 1941, we are requesting this
building be removed from the inventory. Additionally, the original LHP organization does not include a
listing for this property, but somehow it is included in the mapping and GIS for the LHP overlay. We
believe this was simply an error from long ago.
We have provided elevations of the proposed building changes which we believe to be first-class and
compatible with the existing structure and surrounding buildings. As illustrated, we are updating the
exterior with a new storefront system while maintaining the integrity of the CMU building envelope. We
are painting the CMU, parapet, and awning. We are cladding the underside of the awning with wood.
We are adding some tile to the exterior and updating the lighting. The signage shown is a placeholder as
we have not yet determined the sign type, style, lighting, and actual lettering, and understand this will
be a part of a separate review process.
