MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
JANUARY 27, 2021
The Historic Preservation Committee of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on
January 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.
This meeting was conducted utilizing teleconferencing and electronic means consistent with
State of California Executive Order N-29-20 dated March 17, 2020, regarding the COVID-19
pandemic and was conducted via Zoom. All committee members and staff participated from
remote locations and all voting was conducted via roll call vote. In accordance with Executive
Order N-29-20, the public could only view the meeting online and not in the Council Chamber.

Present: Vice Chair Steve Raspe, Planning Commissioner Kathryn Janoff, Committee Member

-Congratulated the new committee members. Thanked the committee and staff for their
work on Historic Preservation for the Town.

MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Barry Cheskin to approve the Consent
Calendar. Seconded by Committee Member Timothy Lundell.

Consider a Request for Demolition of a Pre-1941 Residence, to allow Construction of a
New Single-Family Residence with a Detached Accessory Structure on Nonconforming
Property Zoned R-1:8. APN 529-20-006.

MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Steve Raspe that the applicant’s request for
demolition be denied. The existing residence is historically and
architecturally significant and the applicant has not made the findings
required for demolition.
Seconded by Committee Member Timothy Lundell.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 4-0.
3. 114 Wilder Avenue
Request for a Determination Regarding the Contributing Status of an Existing Single-
Family Residence Located in the Almond Grove Historic District on Property Zoned R-
1D:LHP. APN 510-17-072.

MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Steve Raspe to make the determination that the
structure is not historically or architecturally significant, with the required
findings, noting that the Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps indicate that the
existing residence was likely constructed after 1944.
Seconded by Planning Commissioner Kathryn Janoff.
VOTE: Motion passed 4-0.

4. Election of HPC Chair and Vice Chair
Positions run for one year.
MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Barry Cheskin to nominate Committee
Member Steve Raspe as Chair.

VOTE: Motion passed 4-0.
MOTION: Motion by Planning Commissioner Kathryn Janoff to nominate
Committee Member Timothy Lundell as Vice Chair.
Seconded by Committee Member Barry Cheskin.

5. Report from Planning Manager

The HPC comments on the General Plan went to GPAC. The GPAC discussed the Land Use
Element and will be discussing the Community Design Element next. The General Plan
complete draft may be complete by late May or June.
