Letter of Justification For Addition.
Property owner and Britt/Rowe are proud to propose an addition to the
single family home located at 334 Los Gatos Blvd. The residence addition
has been designed within the allowed development standards of the R1-D
zone. The residence adopts several of the design goals as outlined in the
town's Residential Design Guidelines. The proposed addition also has been
designed to preserve the period character of the original 1919
Spanish/Colonial Bungalow Design.
In researching the history of the home to most accurately design the addition
there were two influential references available to us at this time; 1) the
history of bungalow designs marketed in the in the 1910's and 1920's found
the “The California Bungalows of the 20's” by Henry L. Wilson, and 2)
observation of the styles and details of other homes built in the Spanish
District of Los Gatos by Charles P. Baird.
