Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 ● 408-354-6874 www.losgatosca.gov TOWN OF LOS GATOS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE REPORT MEETING DATE: 12/16/2020 ITEM: 1 DRAFT MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 18, 2020 The Historic Preservation Committee of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Special Meeting on November 18, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. This meeting was conducted utilizing teleconferencing and electronic means consistent with State of California Executive Order N-29-20 dated March 17, 2020, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and was conducted via Zoom. All committee members and staff participated from remote locations and all voting was conducted via roll call vote. In accordance with Executive Order N-29-20, the public could only view the meeting online and not in the Council Chamber. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 3:10 PM ROLL CALL Present: Vice Chair Steve Raspe, Planning Commissioner Kathryn Janoff, Committee Member Nancy Derham Absent: Planning Commissioner Kendra Burch VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS None. CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION) 1. Approval of Minutes – October 28, 2020 MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Steve Raspe to approve the Consent Calendar. Seconded by Committee Member Nancy Derham. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 3-0. PAGE 2 OF 3 MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 18, 2020 PUBLIC HEARINGS 2. 103 Tait Avenue Requesting Approval for Removal and Replacement In-kind of Wood Siding on a Contributing Single-family Residence Located in the Almond Grove Historic District on Property Zoned R-1:D:LHP. APN 510-18-038. PROPERTY OWNER: Ballou Ventures, LLC APPLICANT: Mike Ballou PROJECT PLANNER: Sean Mullin Sean Mullin, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. Opened Public Comment. Applicant presented the project. Closed Public Comment. Committee members discussed the matter. • Fire damage within the walls requires replacement and new siding. • Wood siding was approved for use on the addition and will be used on original house. MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Steve Raspe to recommend approval for the removal and replacement in-kind of the existing wood siding. Seconded by Committee Member Nancy Derham. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 3-0. 3. 17121 Pine Avenue Consider a Request to Remove a Pre-1941 Property from the Historic Resources Inventory for Property Zoned R-1:8. APN 529-20-052. PROPERTY OWNER: Jerome Bellottii APPLICANT: Michael Paravati PROJECT PLANNER: Ryan Safty Ryan Safty, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. Opened Public Comment. Committee members discussed the matter. • Town issued permits for prior renovations at a time when the Historic Preservation Committee was being formed. • The current house no longer looks like the original. MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Steve Raspe to approve the request to remove the Pre-1941 property at 17121 Pine Avenue from the Historic Resources Inventory. Seconded by Planning Commissioner Kathryn Janoff. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 3-0. OTHER BUSINESS (Up to three minutes may be allotted to each speaker on any of the following items.) 4. Report from Planning Manager • Land Use and Community Design Elements went to TC and now back to GPAC. GPAC will meet on 11/19/20 and contact HPC for further comment. • The Town Council appointed HPC members to fill two vacancies on 11/17/20.
