Attachment 1 - Letter of JustificationNovember 9, 2020 Community Development Department Atten: Sean Mullin RE: 103 Tait, Los Gatos – Permit # B19-0718 – existing siding replacement Sean, I am requesting to be allowed to replace the existing siding with new material that is an exact match/profile. The new proposed siding is the same product is that will be installed on the new sections of the house. The existing siding to remain is 120 years old and in rough shape and below are the reasons for the request: -No continuous vapor barrier can be installed due to the in place existing siding. If the existing siding is removed and replaced with new, a proper vapor barrier can be installed. This will provide a current code compliant install. -There was a fire (possibly two) in the old kitchen location that damaged the siding both on the interior and exterior (see attached interior and exterior photos). - due to the condition (warping, cracking....) of the existing siding it will be practically impossible to get the elevations with existing siding to a weather tight condition. The existing siding will remain until we receive approval. Please contact me with any questions, concerns or if additional information is needed.
