Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 ● 408-354-6874 www.losgatosca.gov TOWN OF LOS GATOS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE REPORT MEETING DATE: 10/23/2019 ITEM NO: 1 DRAFT MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 The Historic Preservation Committee of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on September 25, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Matthew Hudes, Vice Chair Robert Cowan, Committee Member Nancy Derham Absent: Committee Member Thomas O’Donnell. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 4:00 PM VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS Jeff Siegel - Requested that the Committee recommend to Town Council to adopt the California Mills Act. CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION) 1. Approval of Minutes – June 26, 2019 MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Robert Cowen to approve the consent calendar. Seconded by Committee Member Nancy Derham. VOTE: Motion 3-0-1, Committee Member Thomas O’Donnell absent. PUBLIC HEARINGS 2. 16890 Roberts Road Requesting approval to remove a pre-1941 property from the Historic Resources Inventory for property zoned R-M:5-12. APN 529-18-046. PROPERTY OWNER: Aguiar Family Trust APPLICANT: Sandra Paim PROJECT PLANNER: Sean Mullin Sean Mullin, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. Open and closed the Public Comment. Committee members discussed the matter. MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Nancy Derham to remove the property located at 16890 Roberts Road from the Historic Resources Inventory. Seconded by Vice Chair Robert Cowen. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously. 3. 258 Edelen Avenue Minor Development in an Historic District Application HS-19-038 Requesting approval for exterior alterations and construction of an addition to a contributing single-family residence in the University-Edelen Historic District on property zoned R1-D:LHP. APN 529-05-013. PROPERTY OWNER: Marsha and Reilly Sweetland APPLICANT: Tony Jeans/THIS Design PROJECT PLANNER: Sean Mullin Sean Mullin, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. The applicant presented the proposed project. Open and closed the Public Comment. Committee members discussed the matter. MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Robert Cowen to approve the proposed project with the following condition: to the satisfaction of the Community Development Director – revise the project plans to provide reference (e.g. split gable) to the original rear portion of the 8:12 roof line on the left side (north) elevation to make the new 2:12 roof portion appear more like a large shed dormer beyond. Seconded by Chair Matthew Hudes. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously. APN 510-45-059. PROPERTY OWNER: Andrew T. Law APPLICANT: Lerika Liscano, DeMattei Construction, Inc. PROJECT PLANNER: Sean Mullin Sean Mullin, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. The applicant and owner presented the proposed project. Committee members discussed the matter. 5. Report from the Planning Manager • Town Council heard a report on the California Mills Act and continued the item to a later date.
