RE: 16890 Roberts Rd
Historic Inventory removal request
Please accept our request to be placed on the HPC meeting agenda for September 25, 2019 as a regular
item.
We are requesting Historic Inventory removal of a pre-1941 building on the corner of Roberts Road and
George Street. The site is zoned R-M:5-12 and the building is currently being used as a pre-school.
The building is 1104 square feet, on a 9223 square foot lot, was built in 1925 and has been re-sided with
stucco. It is a one-story, and has a gable roof with small front and side porch roofs. The roof covering is
asphalt shingle.
The neighborhood to the west has relatively new two-story medium-density housing. Our intent is to
replace the pre-school building with two duplexes, two-story in height and compatible with the
architectural character and scale of the neighborhood.
Please find attached our results from the historical research on the property. The building has no historic
significance or architectural merit for these reasons:
1.The building was re-sided with stucco covering (see Bloomfield survey);
2.The windows and doors in the building have been changed out
3.Enclosed porches, attached fences and landings with railings have been added
4.The building is not within an historic district
5.The building is not associated with any famous person or event.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of our Historic Inventory removal request.
Sincerely,
Sandra Paim AIA
