B. Comments
The 1989 Anne Bloomfield survey identified this Queen Anne style residence as being
constructed in 1880. The applicant is proposing addition work and exterior modifications to
the existing building, including: increased second-story floor area and building height,
covered rear patio, second-story bay windows, and new windows, doors, and architectural
detailing throughout.

The applicant has submitted a Project Description (Attachment 1), Property History and
Research (Attachment 2), and proposed Development Plans (Attachment 3) for the
Committee’s consideration.
DISCUSSION:
A. Considerations Required with Recommendation
In evaluating applications, the deciding body shall consider the architectural style,
design, arrangement, texture, materials and color, and any other pertinent factors.
Applications shall not be granted unless:
For pre-1941 structures, the proposed work will neither adversely affect the exterior
architectural characteristic or other features of the property which is the subject of the
application.

The above referenced project submitted for review by the Historic Planning Commission
proposes the following scope of work:
• Additional square footage at the first and second floor.
• Interior remodel of the first and second floor.
• New windows throughout.
• New roof throughout.
• New covered rear patio.
• Refreshment of exterior trim and colors.
• Additional garage square footage.
• New accessory dwelling unit above garage.
Our goal is to modernize this home for our client while maintaining a minimal impact to the
house as seen from the street. It is our belief that the design complies with the Town Guidelines
and maintains the historic spirit of the neighborhood.
