SUMMARY MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMITTEE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS FOR JULY 27, 2016 HELD IN THE
TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 110 E MAIN STREET, LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA.

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 P.M. by Chair Bob Cowan.

1. Approval of Minutes

• June 22, 2016
MOTION: Len Pacheco moved to approve the minutes of May 25, 2016. The motion was
seconded by Kathryn Janoff.
VOTE: Motion passes 5-0.
MOTION: Michael Kane moved to approve the minutes of June 22, 2016. The motion was
seconded by Tom O’Donnell.
VOTE: Motion passes 5-0.
2. 57 Hernandez Avenue
Requesting approval to demolish an existing pre-1941 single-family residence to
construct a new single-family residence on property zoned R-1:8. APN 510-41-
017.
PROPERTY OWNER: Melanie Fussell
APPLICANT: Jay Plett
PROJECT PLANNER: Sally Zarnowitz
It was noted that the property was not officially on the Historic Resource
Inventory.

MOTION: Tom O’Donnell moved to recommend approval of the request. The motion was
seconded by Kathryn Janoff.
VOTE: Motion passes 4-0-1, Len Pacheco recused.
3. 125 Tait Avenue
Requesting approval for a new second story addition and front porch
modifications to an existing single-family residence in the Almond Grove Historic
District on property zoned R-1D:LHP. APN 510-18-033.
PROPERTY OWNER: Brian and Casey Quigley
APPLICANT: Jay Plett
PROJECT PLANNER: Sally Zarnowitz
MOTION: Len Pacheco moved to continue the item to the August 24, 2016 meeting. The
motion was seconded by Michael Kane.
VOTE: Motion passes 5-0.
4. 122 Whitney Avenue
Architecture and Site Application S-16-033
Requesting approval to demolish a pre-1941 single-family residence and to
construct a new single-family residence on property zoned R-1:10. APN 532-37-
023.
PROPERTY OWNER: Laura and Samuel Schaevitz
APPLICANT: Kohlsaat & Associates
PROJECT PLANNER: Jennifer Armer
The committee discussed how a lot of the original structure had been modified on
the property. Len Pacheco noted that there was no significant historic value
anymore.
MOTION: Len Pacheco moved to approve the demolition request. The motion was
seconded by Michael Kane.
VOTE: Motion passes 5-0.
5. 94 Hernandez Avenue (Previously heard on 12/17/15, 1/26/16 and 4/27/16)
Requesting approval for exterior modifications to a pre-1941 property on the
Historic Resource Inventory zoned R-1:8. APN 510-20-024

was seconded by Kathryn Janoff.
VOTE: Motion passes 4-0-1, Len Pacheco recused.

2016 at 4:00 p.m.
