ITEM 1 215 ALEXANDER AVENUE
Gary Kohlsaat (Architect) Kip Martin (property owner) were present and
discussed the proposed project and the modifications made since their last
meeting.
Tom O’Donnell commented that he is thinking about the diamond pattern on one
window, that he likes that the large dormer was removed, and that the stone looks
good.
Michael Kane commented that he reviewed the past minutes and that the applicant
has done what was asked.
Kathryn Janoff agrees with Michael Kane and commented on the odd roof
transition.
Bob Cowan stated the roof transition wouldn’t be seen from ground level.
Kathryn Janoff asked how lead glass pattern in one window and the front door is
appropriate. Maybe it should be used on all the front windows.
Bob Cowan commented that it is consistent with previous direction and the
character of the house.
Len Pacheco commented that the lead pattern is a challenge, that there are not
enough windows on the left side, that a pair of windows should be wrapped

around on the left side, the garage gable end is awkward and asked if a hip roof
could be used on that side.
The architect commented that the gable end won’t be seen and that it was done for
the property owner’s benefit and that a window could be added to the office area.
Len Pacheco commented that clerestory windows would be okay.
Kathryn Janoff commented that windows in the walk-in closet could be done.
Len Pacheco commented that he is okay with only one window with leaded glass
and that it should be for the living room window only.
Kathryn Janoff agreed with Len Pacheco and commented that the off-centered
pattern is a good idea and asked that a window in the walk-in closet be
considered.
Len Pacheco recommended a hip roof on the garage, but did not obtain
consensus.
Bob Cowan Len Pacheco moved to recommend approval of the proposal as
augmented by the renderings with direction to use the diamond pattern for the
leaded glass on the living room window and provide two windows on the left
elevation in the office because the proposal is compatible and consistent with the
characteristics of the house and the neighborhood. The motion was seconded
by Len Pacheco and approved unanimously.
Michael Kane commented that the gable end on the garage won’t be seen.
