MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 28, 2020
The Historic Preservation Committee of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on
October 28, 2020, at 4:00 p.m.
This meeting was conducted utilizing teleconferencing and electronic means consistent with
State of California Executive Order N-29-20 dated March 17, 2020, regarding the COVID-19
pandemic and was conducted via Zoom. All committee members and staff participated from
remote locations and all voting was conducted via roll call vote. In accordance with Executive
Order N-29-20, the public could only view the meeting online and not in the Council Chamber.

Consider a request to remove a Pre-1941 property from the Historic Resources
Inventory for property zoned R-8. APN 510-19-017.

MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Nancy Derham to deny the request to
remove from the Pre-1941 property at 15 Ellenwood Court from the
Historic Resources Inventory. Seconded by Planning Commissioner Mary
Badame.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 4-0.
3. 225 Wilder Avenue
Minor Residential Development Application MR-20-010.
Forward a recommendation to the Director on a Request for Approval for construction
of a detached garage with reduced setbacks on a contributing single-family residence in
the Almond Grove Historic District on property zoned R-1D:LHP. APN 510-17-024.

Commissioner Mary Badame recused herself from Item 3, 225 Wilder Avenue, as her business
is located within 1,000 feet of the subject property.

MOTION: Motion by Planning Commissioner Michael Hudes to recommend
approval to the Director for construction of a detached garage with

Seconded by Planning Commissioner Michael Hudes.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously, 4-0.

Committee members were supportive of the project and provided the following comments:
• It is important to keep neighbors informed because the project involves adding
windows and square footage to the property.
• The massing feels appropriate.
• The style fits with the existing house and neighborhood.
6. Discussion of Special Meeting Dates for November (11/18) and December (12/16).
All members able to attend November 18 and December 16 at 3:00 p.m.
7. Opening on the Historic Preservation Committee. Deadline to apply is Friday, November
6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
8. Report from Planning Manager
• GPAC: Initial Draft Environmental & Sustainability Element with HPC comments
considered; Initial Draft Land Use Element and Community Design Element to
be considered on 11/5 and 11/19.
• 101 Broadway appeal of A&S for new house to be heard by PC tonight 10/28.
