MINUTES OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
JANUARY 23, 2019
The Historic Preservation Committee of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on
January 23, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Nancy Derham, Vice Chair Matthew Hudes, Committee Member Robert Cowan,
Committee Member Thomas O’Donnell, Committee Member Leonard Pacheco (arrived at 4:05
p.m.)

CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION)
1. Approval of Minutes – December 13, 2018
MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Tom O’Donnell to approve the consent
calendar. Seconded by Committee Member Robert Cowan.
VOTE: Motion passed 4-0-1, Committee Member Leonard Pacheco absent
PUBLIC HEARINGS
2. 11 Peralta Avenue
Requesting approval for construction of an addition to an existing second story of a pre-
1941 single-family residence on property zoned R-1:8. APN 510-42-073.

- Expressed concerns regarding window type – double-hung style or casement with
muntins.
Closed the Public Comment.
Committee members discussed the matter.
MOTION: Motion by Vice Chair Matthew Hudes to recommend approval of the
request with the following conditions: all windows shall be double hung
and the rear second story trellis may be removed or reduced to three
feet or less. Seconded by Committee Member Robert Cowan.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
OTHER BUSINESS
3. 445 Los Gatos Blvd
Requesting preliminary review of a proposal for construction of a second-story addition
to a pre-1941 single-family residence on property zoned R-1:8. APN 529-20-006.

Requesting repair of exterior wall covering on a historically designated property zoned
R-1:8:LHP. APN 523-24-066.

Committee members discussed the matter and found merit in the request.

Committee members discussed the matter and accepted the report.
6. Election of HPC Chair and Vice Chair
Committee members discussed the matter.
MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Leonard Pacheco to elect Matthew
Hudes as Chair. Seconded by Committee Member Thomas O’Donnell.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Motion by Committee Member Leonard Pacheco to elect Robert Cowan
as Vice Chair. Seconded by Chair Matthew Hudes.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
