SUMMARY MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION COMMITTEE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS FOR JULY
23, 2003, HELD IN TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOBBY, 110 E MAIN
STREET, LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA.

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Chair Pacheco.
ATTENDANCE
Members Present: Kelly Blough, Susan Burnett, Jeanne Drexel, Len Pacheco
and Joanne Talesfore
Absent: None
Staff Present: Sandy Baily, Associate Planner
ITEM 1: 110 HARDING AVENUE
The Committee reconsidered plans to construct a second story addition to a pre-1941 single family
residence. Burnett moved to recommend approval of the application to the Director of Community
Development. Drexel seconded, motion passed unanimously.
ITEM 2: 15 ASHLER AVENUE
The Committee considered plans to construct a second story addition to a pre-1941 single family
residence. Pacheco moved to continue the matter with the direction that the house addition be
modified to reduce the mass. Burnett seconded, motion passed unanimously. The Committee
expressed concern about the following items:
1. The second story overpowers the existing residence.
2. The roof needs to be simplified.
3. The porch element has been lost.
4. The cross gable does not work.
5. Applicant needs to work with staff in revising the plans.
ITEM 3: 526 SAN BENITO AVENUE
The Committee considered plans to construct a second story addition to a pre-1941 single family
residence. Pacheco moved to continue the matter since the plans could not be evaluated since a tree
may be impacted by the proposal. The applicant was directed to work with staff on this matter prior to
returning the Committee. Talesfore seconded, motion passed unanimously.
ITEM 4: 138 ALPINE AVENUE
The Committee considered a request to remove this house from the Historic Resources Inventory.
Burnett moved to find that there was not enough evidence presented to verify that
the house was not historic. Drexel seconded, motion passed unanimously.
ITEM 5: ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 P.M. to the next regular meeting of August 6,
2003.
