TOWN COUNCIL/PARKING AUTHORITY
The Town Council/Parking Authority of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council
Chambers of the Town Hall, 110 East Main Street, at 5:30 P.M., Monday, March
22, 1999, in joint study session.
ATTENDANCE
Present:Mayor Jan Hutchins; Councilmembers: Randy Attaway,
Steve Blanton, Linda Lubeck and Joe Pirzynski;
Town Manager David Knapp; Town Staff: Orry Korb, Jim Piper,
Lee Bowman, Regina Falkner, Gloria Grimes, Scott Baker, Bud
Lortz, Sandy Baily, John Iaquinto, and Tim Boyer; Board &
Commission Members: Sandy Decker, James Lyon, Laura
Nachison, Leonard Pacheco, Lee Quintana, Elke Groves, Lynn
Kennedy, Mary Tomasi-DuBois, Toni Blackstock, Alastair Dallas,
Paul DuBois, Debbie Gray, Judith Howell, Sherrie Richter, Randi
Chen, Kurt Lemons, Rex Morton, Don Schallock, Morris Trevithick,
Gladewyn d'Souza, Pete Siemens, Joan Tabb, Susan Burnett,

DISCUSSION
Council discussed the following subjects with committees, boards and
commissions as they appeared on the posted agenda:
Planning Commission
(1)Future of CDAC and Planning Commission study session
(2)Affordable housing - educating the public
(3)Community forum/study sessions with developers and neighbors: process
and format
(4)Sign Ordinance Amendments - Chamber of Commerce Sign Committee
has produced new sign brochures that the Chamber of Commerce will hand out. We
will also have them available at the Central Permit Counter. There doesn't seem to be
any desire to work on any code amendments, which leaves us with the Cornerstone
amendment still hanging
(5)Look into purchasing and rehabilitating apartment complex in
redevelopment area - to be included in workload for new housing program

Historic Preservation Committee
(1)Demolition Ordinance

(1)Master Plan finalization and closure of project started in 1993/94 by Carol
Weber
(2)Networking with Sister Cities on DeAnza Trail running along side Union
Pacific Railroad, Campbell (1.5 - 2 miles), Cupertino (8-10 miles), Saratoga (6 miles),
and Los Gatos (2-3 miles) 2 to 3 year long project
(3)What is the Town Council's philosophy on development of trails and
pathways for new Town developments (i.e., SummerHill, Lark, Miles, etc.)
(4)Budget increase for trail safety, maintenance, traffic pattern, signage,
volunteer support, and ongoing needs
(5)Participate in dedication/celebration of U.C. Regents Property by
SummerHill
(6)Follow up on safety issues regarding Belgatos Trail
