Regarding consent item # 6 ( One Bay Area Grant Cycle II Funding) on the agenda for June 20, 2017
I am voicing my strong support for the staff recommendation to apply for funding for the design of the trailhead
connection for Los Gatos Creek Trail to Highway 9. This is an important connection called out in both the Safe
Routes to School Study as well as the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan. This connection is quite costly, but the
opportunity to get the study and design funded with this OBAG Cycle II funding can make the project
possible. With the completion of this work, the connection project could then qualify for Measure B
funding. Of all the possibilities for this grant request, the trail connection will give us the most project for the
dollars we could receive.
As a member of the Transportation and Parking Commission (TPC), I was part of a unanimous recommendation
for this project. As the TPC liaison to the BPAC, I participated in the BPAC discussion of this item, as the
BPAC voted to support this project also.
