Ord 1519-CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF VEHICULAR DIRECTIONAL SIGNS AND ALLOWING SUCH SIGNS SHOWING THE DIRECTION TO A PRIVATE FACILITY THAT SERVES THE GENERAL PUBLIC, UPON CERTAIN FINDINGS BY THE PLANNING DIRECTORORDINANCE NO. 1519
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF VEHICULAR
DIRECTIONAL SIGNS AND ALLOWING SUCH
SIGNS SHOWING THE DIRECTION TO A PRIVATE
FACILITY THAT SERVES THE GENERAL PUBLIC,
UPON CERTAIN FINDINGS BY THE PLANNING
DIRECTOR.
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
Section 3.31.075 of the Town Zoning Ordinance is amended as
follows:
1. The following words are deleted: "...the Civic Center,
hospitals, public parking lots, and any publicly -owned facility."
2. The following words are added in place of the deleted
words: "...a use or activity."
SECTION 2.
Section 3.37.015 of the Town Zoning Ordinance is amended to
read as follows (the italicized words are added):
SEC. 3.37.015: DIRECTIONAL SIGNS (VEHICULAR)
Non - illuminated vehicular directional signs showing the
direction to or location of the Civic Center, hospitals, public
parking lots, and any publicly -owned facility. A sign showing
the direction to a private facility that serves the general public
(other than a church) may also be permitted upon findings by the
Planning Director that (Z) there is a public interest in making
the facility easy to find; (2) the public would have great diffi-
cuZty finding the facility without a sign; and (3) the sign would
not have a detrimental effect on the neighborhood. Signs erected
under this section may be erected in the public right-of-way by
express permission, but shaZZ in all cases meet the following
requirements:
(a) The sign must be Zocated on an arteriaZ street.
(b) The sign shaZZ not exceed six (6) square feet in area,
nor a height of ten (ZO) feet.
(c) The sign shaZZ be erected at Zeast one hundred (100)
feet from any other directionaZ sign.
THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT and shall be in force thirty
(30) days after the date of its adoption. The Town Clerk of the
Town of Los Gatos shall cause this Ordinance to be published once
within fifteen (15) days after its adoption in the Los Gatos Times -
Saratoga Observer, a newspaper of general circulation, published and
circulated in the Town of Los Gatos.
The above and foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly
introduced at a reeular _ meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos held on the 5th day of October , 1981.
PASSED AND ADOPTED as an Ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos,
California, at a regular meeting of the Town Council held
on the 26th _ day of October , 1981, by the following vote:
