Main St Los Gatos, CA 95030 Dear Mayor Rennie, Vice Mayor Leonardis, and Council Members Spector, Sayoc, and Jensen: RE: Response to the 2 17-2 18 Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury Report We write today to thank the Town for its timely response to the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury s request to address specific findings and recommendations that were included in its June report entitled "Affordable Housing Crisis: Density is our Destiny." As the staff response catalogues, many of the findings are well known to the Town, and many of the recommendations have already been integrated into policy. Earlier this year, Los Gatos took steps to amend its Accessory Dwelling Unit(ADU) ordinance to increase ADU construction opportunities throughout the Town, similar to recommendations mentioned in the report. We are pleased that the Town is taking up the issue of the RHNA sub -region, and the regional discussion about barriers to meeting RHNA targets. We expect Los Gatos to be an active and important partner in these regional discussions. Mary Miurtagh The Grand Jury report calls for a sustained commitment to long-term solutions. Fees can be set at different levels for different commercial development types. In addition, fees can also be based on the size of a business to decrease the burden on small businesses.
