A RESOLUTION OF THE LOS GATOS TOWN COUNCIL
SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF
THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA RIDGE TRAIL
WHEREAS, the Bay area is a special place to live, in large
part because of the close interrelationship between cities and the
magnificent open landscape of the region;
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail will be sited along the
ridgeline of the hills and mountain surrounding the Bay, going
through all nine Bay Area counties and the Santa Cruz Mountains and
offering an unparalleled opportunity to experience the region from
the highest elevations;
WHEREAS, the trail will serve the needs of hikers,
equestrians, bicyclists, people with disabilities, joggers,
families, and many others; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area can serve as a model for the nation
showing how major metropolitan regions can capitalize on its most
spectacular natural resources close to their homes on trails and
walkways;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council supports
creation of the San Francisco Bay Area Ridge Trail, and supports
the efforts of the public agencies, trails groups, private sector
institutions, and individuals who are working through the Ridge
Trail Council to bring this trail into existence.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos at a regular meeting held this 6th day
of March , 19bv, by the following vote:
