RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS COMMENDING JOHN S. BAGGERLY
FOR HIS SELECTION AS "CITIZEN OF THE YEAR"
WHEREAS, JOHN S. BAGGERLY has been a resident of the Town of Los Gatos since his
birth in November, 1915 and has given unselfishly for the betterment of the Los
Gatos area and the citizens therein; and
WHEREAS, JOHN S. BAGGERLY has a long list of accomplishments and service to the
citizens of the Town Los Gatos, including but not limited to the following:
• 37 years working with teenagers of the Town in sports activities
• 44 years providing news coverage of Town activities and serving as a historic
resource
• Exemplary coverage of high school athletics spanning a 44 year career
• 11+ years of service on the Town Library Board
• Charter Member of the Los Gatos Elementary Education Foundation
• Maintenance of Balzer Field (ball playing field) for 28 years
• 8 year member of the Los Gatos /Saratoga Community Education and Recreation
Department Board of Directors
• Spearheaded the batting cage project at Fisher Jr. High School
• Organized coaching clinics for both coaches and players in Pony and Little
League for at least 10 years
• Organized the Blazer Memorial Scholarship Fund
• Coordination of the high school football program
• Volunteer at the Masters and Invitational Track Meets sponsored by Los Gatos
Athletic Association
• Helped establish the Charlie Wedemeyer Love Trust Foundation
• Served on the Centennial Committee for the Town's 100th anniversary
celebration
• Charter member of the Los Gatos High School Alumni Association and
participant in planning for the high school's 100th year celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS do deem it
appropriate and do hereby commend JOHN S. BAGGERLY for his many contributions
and for his dedicated and loyal service to the Town of Los Gatos.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 16th day of May, 1988 by the following vote:
