DECLARATION OF WORK PERIODS UNDER THE
FEDERAL LABOR STANDARDS ACT
WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Garcia vs. San Antonio Transit
Authority imposes the Federal Labor Standards Act FLSA upon
local governments; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos has been informed by the Department of
Labor that compliance with FLSA is effective as of April 15, 1985;
and
WHEREAS, the Town Council is required to establish work periods;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos does hereby
declare the following work periods:
Elected Officials
Management Personnel
Non - Management Sworn
(Police) Personnel
Beginning
Ending
All other Town employees
Beginning
Ending
Exempt
Exempt
28 -day work period /171 hours
0001 Sunday, April 7, 1985
2400 Saturday, May 4, 1985
Work periods thereafter will
consist of consecutive 28 -day
intervals.
7 -day work period /40 hours
0001 Sunday, April 7, 1985
2400 Saturday, April 13, 1985
Work periods thereafter will
begin each Sunday at 0001, and
end the following Saturday at
2400.

at a regular meeting held this 19th day of August
