A RESOLUTION RELATING TO ASBESTOS IN SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, AB 2377 has been introduced by Assemblymember Gray Davis and
others; and
WHEREAS, AB 2377 permits school districts and county offices of educa-
tion to apply to the State Allocation Board for funds for the
purposes of inspection, testing, analysis, containment, and
removal of asbestos materials which are a health hazard in
the schools and appropriates 45 million dollars for this
purpose; and
WHEREAS, according to the Department of Education, there are over 3,000
schools state -wide where school children, teachers, and /or
custodians are daily exposed to the dangers of asbestos; and
WHEREAS, cost has been the major impediment to asbestos clean -up;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Los Gatos Town Council supports
AB 2377 and urges the Superintendents and the Boards of Trustees of the
Los Gatos Elementary School District and the Los Gatos Joint Union High
School District to assure that asbestos clean -up will be accomplished no
later than the summer of 1985.

at a regular meeting held this 21st day of May
