A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
CONCERNING AMENDMENTS TO THE LAND USE ELEMENT AND HOUSING ELEMENT
OF THE GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, under Government Code Section 65355, the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos conducted a public hearing for consideration of amendments to
the General Plan on March 21, 1983, and
WHEREAS, during this hearing the Town Council considered all of the items
shown in Resolution No. 83 -3 of the Planning Commission.
RESOLVED: The Town Council adopts the following amendment which would
follow Subsection E of the Housing Element which begins on Page 14:
Add new Subsection F: Housing for the Handicapped
Problem:
Handicapped persons have special design requirements in terms of meeting
their housing needs. These requirements include accessability, space for
wheelchairs to maneuver, locations of fixtures, and emergency exit
needs. While the Town has not yet been able to identify the numbers or
specific types of needs to be addressed, it has recognized the need to
begin providing for such housing units at this time.
Objective:
Meet the needs of housing for handicapped residents of the Town.
Policy 14:
Housing restricted for occupancy by handicapped persons will be eligible
for a density bonus equal to 100 percent of the number of units permitted
by the underlying zone.
FURTHER RESOLVED: The Town Council finds that the amendment will not
have a significant impact on the environment, and makes the Negative
Declaration.
