A RESOLUTION APPROVING RECOMMENDATION THAT THE LOS
GATOS LIBRARY BECOMES A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH BAY
COOPERATIVE LIBRARY SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the members of the Los Gatos Library Board have unanimously endorsed
the recommendation that the Los Gatos Library join the South Bay
Cooperative Library System effective July 1, 1982, in order to
provide the Town with even broader library facilities, per the
following:
I. Free and equal access to all libraries in Santa Clara County
for every Los Gatos resident;
2. Broader and deeper reference service;
3. Faster and more efficient interlibrary loans;
4. Use of costly and special items (e.g., 16mm film),
5. Staff development and training programs;
6. Involvement in special projects (e.g., outreach service and
microfiche readers);
7. No loss of local autonomy; and
8. The option to withdraw from the System at any time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos
that, effective July 1, 1982, the Los Gatos Library shall officially become
a member of the South Bay Cooperative Library System.
