A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AN INTER -CITY
COUNCIL STUDY OF THE INDUSTRY AND
HOUSING MANAGEMENT TASK FORCE REPORT.
WHEREAS, various planning studies such as the Santa Clara Valley Corridor
Evaluation, the County Housing Task Force, and the Industry & Housing
Management Task Force have recommended actions be taken to address
issues of imbalance between jobs and housing and the transportation
issues related thereto; and
WHEREAS, the recently published report of the Industry & Housing Management Task
Force (Living Within Our Limits) has, while recommending various partial
solutions to the problems, concluded that the existing governmental struc-
ture wherein land use controls are maintained by cities (or the County)
cannot properly solve the problems addressed therein; and
WHEREAS, the said report recommends creation of a new governmental entity
which would have overriding land use powers; and
WHEREAS, the Inter -City Council, a voluntary organization of the cities in
Santa Clara County, believes that existing governmental structure can work
voluntarily to solve the problems presented; and
WHEREAS, the Inter -City Council recommends that the cities join together in
seeking solutions to the pressing problems of the County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. That the Inter -City Council hereby recommends that there be created an action -
oriented subcommittee, consisting of representatives of each city in the County
whose purpose shall be to analyze the Industry & Housing Management Task Force
Report and to recommend ways for existing governments to implement solutions
to the problems addressed therein;
2. That this resolution shall be referred to each individual city with the
request that each city appoint a representative to such subcommittee;
3. That each city request its staff through such organizations as the City
Managers Association and SCCAPO to cooperate with the Inter -City Council
Subcommittee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California, at a
regular meeting held on the 7th day of January, 1980, by the following vote:
