Ord 1347 - AMENDING THE TOWN CODE CONCERNING UNDERGROUND INSTALLATIONSORDINANCE NO. 1347 ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TOWN CODE CONCERNING UNDERGROUND INSTALLATIONS THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 32 -25 of the Town Code of the Town of Los Gatos is amended to read: SEC. 32 -25 NEW EXTENSIONS OF UTILITY FACILI (a) All new extensions of existing utility distribution facilities, including but not limited to electric, communication and cable television lines, hereafter constructed or installed shall be underground. (b) When any building or structure is built, all electric and communication service lines to it shall be underground. When in the course of remodeling any existing building or structure new electric or communication service lines are installed, they shall be underground. (c) When underground installation is required, the owner, builder, remodeler or lessee of the premises involved shall make all necessary arrangements with the utility companies in compliance with their rules, as approved by the California Public Utilities Commission. SECTION 2. Section 32 -26 of - the Town Code of the Town of Los Gatos is amended to read: SEC. 32-26: EXCEPTIONS The provisions of section 32 -25 do not apply to: (a) Any municipal equipment or facilities installed under the supervision and to the satisfaction of the Town Engineer. (b) Poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures used for the transmission of electric energy at nominal voltages in excess of 34,500 volts. (c) Antennae, associated equipment and supporting structures used by a utility for furnishing communication services. (d) Equipment appurtenant to underground facilities, such as surface - mounted transformers, pedestal- mounted terminal boxes and meter cabinets, and concealed ducts® (e) Temporary poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures used or to be used in conjunction with construction projects. (f) Existing poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures required to be moved to accommodate street improvements. (g) Emergency services installed and maintained for not more than ten days. (h) With reference to section 32 -25(b) only, service lines to remodeled one-and two - family dwellings. SECTION 3. This ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is -2- adopted. Within 15 days after this ordinance is adopted the Town Clerk shall cause it to be published once in a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in the Town. This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of - the Town of Los Gatos on February 7th —1 1977, and adopted by the following vote as an ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town Council on February 22nd 1977.
