ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
AMENDING THE LOS GATOS TOWN CODE
CONCERNING PARKING
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1.
Sections 16 -20, 16 -46, 16 -55, 16 -56, 16 -57, 16 -58 and 16 -60
of the Los Gatos Town Code are repealed.
SECTION 2.
Section 16 -48.1 of the Los Gatos Town Code is amended to
read:
SEC. 16 -48.1 PARKING COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN RESIDENTIAL
ZONES
Residential zones are the RC, HR, R -1, R -1M, RD
and R -M zones, and any other zone designated by the
Town Zoning Ordinance as a residential zone.
Between 5:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M. no person shall park
or leave parked a commercial vehicle having a manufacturer's
gross vehicle weight exceeding 10,000 pounds on the portion
of a street which abuts property in a residential zone.
Vehicles used to perform emergency or commercial
services are exempt from the provisions of this section,
but only while the services are being performed, and when
the vehicle is reasonably necessary to the performance of
the services and is parked as close as is practical to
the place where the services are performed.

SECTION 3.
Section 16 -55.1 of the Los Gatos Town Code is amended to
read:
SEC. 16 -55.1 MARKING PARKING SPACES
Whenever the Director of Public Works determines that
the public welfare— which includes, but is not limited
to matters of safety, conservation of parking and public
peace - - requires, he may mark highway and public parking
lot surfaces or curbs or both to designate angle or parallel
parking spaces. Where there are such markings no person shall
park or stand any vehicle unless it is entirely within a
designated space.
Definition of highway is that provided by Vehicle
Code section 360.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is
adopted. Within 15 days after this ordinance is adopted the Town
Clerk shall cause it to be published once in a newspaper of general
circulation published and circulated in the Town.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the
Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos on October 3 , 1977

Los Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town Council on
17th , 1977.
