ORDINANCE NO. 1418
ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ESTABLISHING
RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIPS ON PERMANENT
TOWN BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Article V is added to Chapter 2 of the Los Gatos Town Code
to read:
ARTICLE V. BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
Section 2 -50 Residence.Requirement
Residence in the Town is a requirement for membership
of all permanent Town boards and commissions.
Section 2 -51 Definition
Permanent Town boards and commissions are those bodies
which are established by ordinance and whose members are
appointed by the Town Council.
Section 2 -52 Failure to Meet Qualifications and Vacancies
If a member of a permanent Town board or commission
ceases to be a resident of the Town, his office then becomes
vacant. With respect to appointment and tenure of replacements
and in all other matters, the vacancy is treated like any other
on that board or commission.
Section 2 -53 Information Concerning Residence
It is the responsibility of each member of all Town boards
and commissions, including boards and commissions created by
resolution as well as boards and commissions created by ordinance,
to inform the Town of his residence address at the time of his
appointment and promptly inform the Town of all subsequent changes
of address.
Section 2 -54 Applicability
Persons who are members of permanent boards or commissions
on the effective date of this ordinance are, only for so long as
theirtenure (including reappointments) continues, exempt from the
terms of Section 2 -50.

SECTION 2.
This ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is
adopted. Within 15 days after this ordinance is adopted the Town
Clerk shall cause it to be published once in a newspaper of general
circulation published and circulated in the Town.
This ordinance was introduced a,t a regular meeting of the
Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos on February 5 19
and adopted by the following vote as an ordinance of the Town of
Los Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town Council on February 20 ,
