AN ORDINANCE AMEINMING ORDINANCE NO. 282 OF THE TOu N. OF LOS
GATOS, MiTITLED IIAl` ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR
FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY IN CONNECTION WITH HAZARD-
OUS MATERIALS AND PROCESSES, AND REGULATION BURNING WITHIN
THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ANT PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIO-
LATION OF THIS ORDINANCE." BY ADDING SECTION 9.5 PROVIDING
REGULATIONS FOR AUTOYLOBILE I%TR.ECKING AND JUNK YARDS.
THE TOWNT COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES OR-
DAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 282 entitled "AN O_R.DINMIM
PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY
IN CONNECTION ;,TITH HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND PROCESSES, AND
REGULATION BURNING WITHIN THE TO11 OF LOS GATOS, AND PRpVID-
]r G PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS OHDINANCE1' passed
and adopted by the Town Council of the Town of Los Uatos
at a regular meeting held May 19, 1947, be amended by adding
thereto Section 9.5 to read as follows:
SECTION 9.5. AUTOMOBILE WRECKING AND JUNK YARDS.
A permit shall be obtained from the Chief of
the Los Gatos Fire Department for the establishment and main
tenance of an automobile wrecking yard or a junk yard, and
no such yard shall be located as to seriously expose adjoining
or adjacent properties.
No automobile or any part thereof shah be burned
for wrecking or salvage purposes in or on any premises occupied
as a wrecking yard.
At junk yards, where large quantities of haste,
paper-, rags and other combustible materials are handled and
the process shall be carried on in a building of
other than frame construction. Height shall not.be over one-
unless building is of fire proof construction.

roof as may be,._reouired by the Chief of the Los Gatos Fire

Department, to provide adecuate ventilation in case of fire.
Vertical openings shall be properly enclosed and window
openings shall be protected by metal frames and saeh glazed
with wired glass. Picking rooms shall be separated. from
storage rooms by a fire partition or wall.. The entrance
to such rooms shall be provided with standard, self-closing
fire doors. All picking rooms shall be provided with exhaust
systems of sufficient capacity to adequately remove dust
thirty (30) days from and after date of its passage and be-
fore the ex-pira Lion of fifteen (15) days after its passage
it shall be published once with the names of the members

a newspaper published in the gown of Los Gatos.

Los Gatos, California, at a regular meeting of the Town
Council thereof held by the following vote:
