Santa Cruz Avenue, is attempting to secure a CUP for a cooking school and service of wine and beer. please consider withholding the alcohol service and allowing the cooking school. The Broadway neighborhood is heavy with alcohol service already: Main Street Burgers, Willow Street, Number One Broadway, the upstairs Los Gatos Bar and Grill,( which is always problematic) and just south of the hardware store, the Toll House. A number of these establislnnents have been problematic to the neighborhood with disturbing outdoor noise. I am concerned that this end of town will become an entertainment zone and our noise problems will just become worse Willow, and Main Street Burgers started out without alcohol service. Once established, they said their customers demanded alcohol and so it goes. (Willow Street is now a full blown bar) If the CUP goes with the property, (that is my understanding) then the next tenant could do the same thing as Willow Street and we, the neighbors at the south end of town, would be dealing with yet another problematic full bar Parking is another issue that affects the Broadway neighbors, and this just adds more pressure to our neighborhood. Please do not allow another establislnnent serving alcohol to the south end of town, enough is enough! Thank you so much for your careful consideration. Michael and Gillian Verga 46 Broadway Ave Los Gatos, CA 95030 EXHIBIT 9 1 Dear Planning Commission, RECEIVED MAY 1 0 2016 TOWN OF LOS GATOS PLANNING DIVISION Regarding the neighboring business proposal at 22 S. Santa Cruz Ave- nue, to secure a CUP for a cooking school and service of wine and beer, please consider withholding the alcohol service portion. Secondly, con- sider parking at this end of town. This end of town, very close to the Broadway neighborhood, is heavy with alcohol service already: Main Street Burgers, Willow Street, Number One Broadway, and just across Main, the upstairs Los Gatos Bar and Grill. Just south of the hardware store is Toll House, which al- so serves liquor. At least four of these establishments have been prob- lematic to the neighborhood in the past, with very disturbing outdoor noise as patrons are coming and going. Willow is a half step away from being a club . See their website, 11If Los Gatos had a clubhouse, it would surely be Willow Street." I worry that in time, this end of town will become an entertainment zone, and there will be no turning back. Willow, Main Street Burgers came in without alcoholic beverage ser- vice . Once established, they begged that their customers demanded wine beer, and later, at Willow, a full bar. My understanding is that the CUP goes with the property, so we would be opening this additional space to an escalation of service. Parking is problematic for all these businesses. Timed parking in the daytime is of help here on Broadway , except in the case of Willow Street. Despite the agreement to provide their own attended stacked parking on the premises, the Willow work staff parks on Broadway and moves tn~ir cars every two hours . ( Sans the alcohol, and parking issues , I would love to have cooking clas- ses just on my corner. Sur Ia Table has great offerings, and Williams Sonoma has demonstrations. Another would be gladly welcomed by me. Thank you so much for your careful considerations . Gai I Randolph #42 Broadway Los Gatos, CA 95030 This Page Intentionally Left Blank
