Council approved the addition of two student <br />Commissioners to the Library Board at the April 21, 2014 Council meeting. Recruitment efforts <br />included letter distribution at various schools, advertisements in local publications, and posts of <br />the opportunities on the Town’s website, the Youth Commission Facebook page, KCAT, and on <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />On May 9, 2016, an Ad Hoc Council Sub-Committee comprised of Mayor Barbara Spector, <br />Council Member Steve Leonardis, and Captain Michael D’Antonio interviewed 26 applicants. <br />All of the applicants demonstrated initiative and community spirit in applying for leadership <br />positions to serve the community. <br /> <br />This year 38 applications were received and there are 22 student Commissioner positions <br />available between the four Commissions. Of the 38 applications received, three did not meet the <br />residency requirements and were ineligible to interview, two applied after the deadline, two were <br />unable to attend the interviews due to other commitments, and four did not attend the interview. <br />The recommended appointments are listed in Attachment 1. <br />
