Desk Item #90`N N OF
DATE: AUGUST 19, 2013
TO: MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL
PROM: GREG LARSON, TOWN MANAGER
MEETING DATE: 08/19/13
ITEM NO: 9
DESK ITEM
SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 10 -10 — HIGHWAY 9/UNIVERSITY AVENUE
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 813 -0202
REMARKS:
Since the distribution of the August 19 Town Council agenda, staff received requests for
information, as responded to below,
Questions received:
1. What was the amount of the grant received by the Town?
2. Will this project include synchronization with the light at the intersection of Highway 9
and North Santa Cruz? If not, why not, and are there plans to do that going forward and
when?
Answer:
The Highway 9 /University intersection improvement project is funded in part from a $ 900,000
Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant. The current project does not include
signal interconnection and synchronization between the N. Santa Cruz and University Avenue
signals, however upgrades to the Hwy 9/University signal controller will allow for future
interconnection with the Hwy 9 /Santa Cruz-intersection when funds are identified for an upgrade
to that signal. There is no current schedule for improvements to the Highway 9 /Santa Cruz
intersection as this would be dependent on the availability of funding.
