ORDINANCE NO. 1622 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS <br />DESIGNATING THE HOERLER HOUSE AND GARAGE <br />AS HISTORICALLY AND CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT <br />The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos does ordain as follows: <br />SECTION I <br />The following structure is hereby designated historically and culturally <br />significant: <br />HD -84 -1 Hoerler House and Garage <br />15945 Camino del Cerro <br />A detailed description of the designated structure, the characteristics <br />which justify designation, and a map showing the location and delineation of the <br />historic structure, are part of this ordinance. <br />SECTION II <br />The property listed is designated to be of historic, architectural, or <br />aesthetic significance for the reasons listed below: <br />A. Property: Hoerler House, 15945 Camino del Cerro <br />B. Historic Designation No.: HD -84 -1 <br />C. Description of Designation: Structures <br />D. Description of Characteristics which Justify Designation: <br />The property was sold to Mr. Hoerler, a Pennsylvania Dutchman, as one <br />corner of the original Rancho Rinconada de Los Gatos and was at the time an <br />approximately 500 -acre fruit orchard. Hoerler built the house in 1870 and added <br />the semi - circular living room in 1895, partly to accommodate his family of 8 sons, <br />who were all born in the house and have their initials carved on the porch columns. <br />
