Conduct appointment process for: Arts and Culture Commission, Community Services <br />Commission, Community Services Commission: Student Member, Historic Preservation <br />Committee, Library Board, Parks Commission, Parks Commission: Student Member, <br />Personnel Board, Planning Commission, Rent Advisory Committee, and Transportation and <br />Parking Commission. <br />2. Direct Clerk Administrator to re- advertise any vacant positions following the appointments <br />on November 8, 2010. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />On November 8, 2010, Council will interview applicants for vacant board, commission, and <br />committee positions (hereafter, "commissions ".) Attached is a list of commissions, the number <br />of vacancies, and names of applicants. The proposed schedule allows five minutes; the schedule <br />is intended for planning purposes and more time can be taken with the Planning Commission <br />applicants, if needed. Included in the list are three student position vacancies; two on the Parks <br />Commission and one on the Community Services Commission. Two applications were received <br />after the June deadline for Student Applications. Staff recommends that the students be included <br />in the scheduled interview /appointment process. This will provide the students an opportunity to <br />participate in a process similar to the process that occurs in June and will eliminate the need to <br />implement a substitute process. <br />Following the interviews, Council may appoint applicants to the vacant positions. Upon <br />completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re- <br />advertise any vacant commission positions. <br />PREPARED BY : Jackie D.
