SUBJECT: ADOPT AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA
IMPOSING A G ENERAL TRANSACTIONS AND USE TAX
RECOMMENDATION :
Adopt ordinance that was introduced at the Town Council meeting of June 5, 2018 , imposing a
general transaction and use tax for a period of twenty years if a majority of the Town’s q ualified
voters approve the ballot measure at the November 6, 2018, regular municipal election.
BACKGROUND :
On June 5, 2018 , the Council considered and voted to introduce an Ordinance (Attachment 1)
imposing a general transaction and use tax for a period of twenty years if a majority of the
Town’s qualified voters approve the ballot measure at the November 6, 2018, regular municipal
election.
DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to State law, the Council must adopt the proposed ordinance in order to place the
gen eral transaction and use tax on the ballot.
CONCLUSION :
Council should move for the adoption of the attached Ordinance.
