ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 3.47 is added to this Ordinance to read:
Chapter 3.47
Lighting
SEC. 3.47.010 CONTROL OF OUTDOOR LIGHTING
Outdoor lights must be shielded and directed to
shine on improvements including plants on the zoning
plot where the lights are located and not directly on
other property or any public right -of -way. Shoestring
lighting is not permitted.
SECTION 2.
Section 4.10.015 of this Ordinance is amended to read:
SEC. 4.10.015
COURT GAME AREAS
Tennis, volleyball, basketball, badminton and similar
court game areas may be located anywhere on the lot except
in the required front yard or side yard abutting the street.
Fences over six feet high are allowed to enclose court game
areas, but the portion of such fences or structures which
is over six feet high shall be made of mesh type materials.

SECTION 3.
Section 4.24.030 of this Ordinance is amended to reads
SEC. 4.24.030: USES PERMITTED BY CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
The following uses are permitted, provided that a
conditional use permit for such use is in effect:
(1) Public utility stations, transmission lines, storage
tanks, drainage ways and the like when found in the
conditional use permit proceeding to be necessary
for the public health, safety and general welfare.
(2 ) Church.
(3) Hospital.
(4) Education, charitable and philanthropic institutions.
(5) Cemetery, crematory and mausoleum.
(6) Public buildings.
(7) Small livestock farming, dairying or animal husbandry.
(8) Residential structures in addition to an existing
principal residential structure located on a single
lot or parcel, subject to the provisions of section
4.24.035.
(9) Nursery schools, provided that each shall be on a
site not less than 20,000 square feet in area and
in building not less than 2,000 square feet in floor
area.
(10) Publicly -owned playgrounds, parks and community
recreational facilities compatible with the intent
and purpose of the HR zone.

SECTION 4.
Section 4.40.020 of this Ordinance is repealed.
SECTION 5.
References to "this Ordinance" are to the Zoning Ordinance of
the Town of Los Gatos.
SECTION 6.
This Ordinance shall take effect and shall be in force thirty
(30) days after the date of its adoption. The Town Clerk of the
Town of Los Gatos shall cause this Ordinance to be published once
within fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Los Gatos Times -
Saratoga Observer, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the Town of Los Gatos.
The above and foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly
introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos held on the 20th day of September, 1976.
PASSED AND ADOPTED as an Ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos,
California, at a re gular meeting of the Town Council, held
on the 4th day of October , 1976, by the following vote:
