ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS GRANTING
A FRANCHISE TO TELEPROMPTER, A CORPORATION,
TO OPERATE A CABLE ANTENNA TELEVISION SYSTEM
IN THE TOWN.
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
This ordinance is adopted under the authority and subject to the pro-
visions of Chapter 9 of the Los Gatos Town Code as amended by Ordinance
No. 1428.
A franchise to conduct, operate and maintain a cable antenna television
system in the Town of Los Gatos for a term of ten years commencing on the
effective date of Ordinance No. 1429 has been granted to Teleprompter
Corporation.
Following is the schedule of fees and charges in effect beginning
June 1, 1980, and continuing for the remainder of the franchise period, or
until amendment of this ordinance.

converters, amplifiers, etc., whereas Teleprompter owns
such equipment in other structures.

Upon application by any subscriber who is 65 years of age or over, and
who is head of a household and who has been a subscriber for six (6) months
or more continuously, the monthly service charge for the first television
connection shall be $3.95 per month.
The installation charges include use of company -owned converter while
customer's account is active.
For new structures, the builder, developer., or subscriber will, at no
cost to Teleprompter, provide trenches for underground distribution and
service laterals; the prewiring of structures to receive cable television
service; necessary conduit and vaults, provided, however, that Teleprompter
shall provide the labor necessary for installation of conduit and vaults.
Teleprompter shall charge cable television subscribers only those fees
and charges which are in accordance with the foregoing schedule of fees and
charges, and no increase therein may be made without prior approval of the
Town Council.
No rights accrue to the franchisee under the terms of this ordinance
until the franchisee has, in writing signed by an officer authorized to do
so, accepted the franchise and agreed to be bound by all of the terms of
Chapter 9 of the Los Gatos Town Code and until. the franchisee delivers to the
Town all required instruments of security and proofs of insurance.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is adopted. Within
15 days after this ordinance is adopted, the Town Clerk shall cause it to be
published once in a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated
in the Town.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council
of the Town of Los Gatos on April 7 , 1980, and adopted by the following
vote as an ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town
Council on April 21 , 1980.
