06-19-03 Minutes - HPC110 TOWN OF LOS GATOS 110 East Main Street, Los Gatos, CA 95032 (408) 354-6872 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS FOR JUNE 19, 2003, HELD IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOBBY, 110 E. MAIN STREET, LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The meeting was called to order at 5:40 P.M. by Chair Pacheco. ATTENDANCE Members Present: Kelly Blough, Susan Burnett, Jeanne Drexel, Len Pacheco and Joanne Talesfore Absent: None Staff Present: Sandy Baily, Associate Planner Judie Gilli, Assistant Planner Pacheco explained that the item on this agenda was originally considered by the Historic Preservation Committee on June 4, 2003. However, since three members of the Committee had a conflict of interest of being within 500 feet of the subject property, the two remaining members, who did not have a conflict of interest with the application, voted on the matter. Subsequent to the meeting, the Town Attorney determined that the application needed to be reheard by the Committee, and that three members would need to vote on the matter. Therefore this special meeting was arranged. ITEM 1: 73 ELLENWOOD AVENUE Pacheco, Burnett and Talesfore each stated for the record that they have a conflict of interest since they live within 500 of the subject property. Baily stated that the members who had a conflict would need to draw numbers to determine who would be a voting member to make a quorum. Baily requested that Burnett recuse herself from the draw and the Committee for this item since she lived adjacent to the subject property. Burnett recused herself from the meeting. Numbers 1 through 10 were placed in a bag and it was agreed that whoever drew the higher number would vote on this application. Pacheco drew the number 7 and Talesfore drew the number 10. Pacheco recused himself from the meeting. Committee members Blough, Drexel and Talesfore considered plans to construct a second story addition. Blough moved to recommend approval of the application to the Director of Community Development subject to the following conditions. 1. All windows and doors shall be wood. No snap in grids or grids inside the windows are permitted. Simulated wood grids are acceptable (ie: one glass pack with grids applied by manufacturer to inside, outside and between glass), to read as a true divided lite window. Vinyl clad windows are not permitted. 2. All window trim, window finish detail, corner boards, soffits, eaves, millwork and any other detail shall match existing. Drexel seconded, motion passed unanimously. The Committee further stated that the existing and proposed contemporary windows at the rear elevation can be changed to match the other windows if the applicant so chooses in the future. Burnett and Pacheco returned to the meeting. ITEM 2 ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 P.M. to the next regularly scheduled meeting of July 2, 2003.
