RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
TO AUTHORIZE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT WITH
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL
SERVICES, FOR PURCHASE OF (12) TWELVE 1995 MODEL CHP
CLASS "E" SPECIAL SERVICE VEHICLES
WHEREAS, in May 1990 Council adopted Resolution #1990 -89 authorizing Office
of Procurement, Department of General Services of the State of California to purchase
materials, supplies and equipment on behalf of the Town of Los Gatos pursuant to Town
Code §2.50.130(b)(2); and
WHEREAS, program objective is to reduce cost of commodities through volume
purchasing; and
WHEREAS, in April 1994 Council approved an amended vehicle replacement policy;
and
WHEREAS, replacement of patrol vehicles changed from two years 65,000 miles
to three years 85,000 miles; and
WHEREAS, Parks, Forestry and Maintenance Services Department reviewed
replacement schedule and determined that four cars be replaced in Fiscal Year 1994 -95 and
the remaining in Fiscal Year 1995 -96; and
WHEREAS, cut -off for purchasing through State of California Cooperative
Purchasing is January 18, 1995, and delivery for new vehicles is July 3, 1995; and
WHEREAS, cost saving by purchasing 1995 models compared to 1996 model year
is $1,000.00 per unit based on anticipated price increases; and
WHEREAS, vehicle maintenance also anticipates replacement of major vehicle
components if purchases are deferred; and
WHEREAS, new police vehicles when purchased will be converted to dual
CNG /GASOLINE using grant funding secured through the Bay Area Air Quality District.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos,
County of Santa Clara, State of California, that the Town Manager is authorized to execute
agreement with Office of Procurement, Department of General Services of the State of
California to purchase Materials, Supplies and Equipment for and on behalf of the Town
of Los Gatos pursuant to Section 10324 of the Public Contract Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, California, held on the 17th day of January , 1995 by the following vote:
