ADOPT A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT
STUDY COMMITTEE'S DEADLINE FOR COMPLETING THEIR WORK
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution (Attachment 1) extending the Planned Development Study Committee's
deadline for completing their work.
BACKGROUND:
On February 17, 2015 the Town Council adopted Resolution 2015 -008 (Attachment 2)
establishing the Planned Development Study Committee (PDSC).
DISCUSSION:
Resolution 2015 -008 contains a provision that requires the PDSC to dissolve on December 31, 2015.
The PDSC has made good progress over the last couple months, but needs additional time to
complete their work. Therefore, staff is recommending that the Town Council adopt a resolution
extending the deadline for dissolution of the PDSC to January 31, 2016.
As a temporary committee, the current membership would not change if Town Council appoints
new individuals to the Planning Commission and /or General Plan Committee.

CONCLUSION:
Staff is confident that the PDSC will be able to complete their work by January 31, 2016.
Therefore, staff recommends that the Town Council adopt the resolution contained in
Attachment 1 which extends the deadline for dissolution of the PDSC from December 31, 2015
to January, 31, 2016.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
Environmental review is not required as this is not a project defined by the California
Environmental Quality Act.

RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR THE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT STUDY
COMMITTEE TO COMPLETE THEIR WORK
WHEREAS, in December 2013, an Ad Hoc Committee of the Town Council was
established to study Planned Developments (PD) and the use of the PD Overlay Zoning; and
WHEREAS, on June 2, 2014, the Ad Hoc Committee presented the Town Council
recommended amendments to the Town Code (Zoning Regulations) pertain to PD Overlay
Zoning; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council referred the Ad Hoc Committee's recommended
amendments to the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, on October 8, 2014, the Planning Commission conducted a public meeting to
receive public input and review the referral from Council; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended that the Town Council appoint a
Planned Development Study Committee (hereafter Study Committee) with membership from the
Planning Commission, General Plan Committee, Historic Preservation Committee, developers,
and members of the public to conduct further research regarding the use of the PD Overlay Zoning.
WHEREAS, on February 17, 2015 the Town Council adopted Resolution 2015 -008
establishing a Study Committee that shall automatically be dissolved on December 31, 2015.
WHEREAS, the Study Committee needs additional time to complete their work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos does hereby extend the original dissolution deadline from December 31, 2015 to January 31,
2016.

ESTABLISHING A PLANNED DEVELOPMENT STUDY COMMITTEE

Committee, two Town residents, one member with business experience, and one member with
land development/construction community. The purpose of the Study Committee is to conduct
further research regarding the history and use of the PD Overlay Zoning and related planning
application processes and formulate recommendation(s) for the Town Council's considerations.
The Study Committee shall automatically be dissolved on December 31, 2015.
