RECOMMENDATIONS:
I. Conduct an interview and appointment process for the following: Ad Hoc Citizen
Committee, Arts & Culture Commission, Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission,
Building Board of Appeals, Community and Senior Services Commission, General Plan
Committee, Historic Preservation Committee, Library Board, Parks Commission, Planning
Commission, and Transportation and Parking Commission.
2. Appoint applicants to fill vacant Town Board, Commission, and Committee positions for the
specified term limits. For those positions that have unexpired vacancies (Arts & Culture
Commission and Transportation & Parking Commission) due to resignations, appoint
applicants to fill those positions.
3. Direct the Clerk Administrator to re- advertise any vacant positions with the annual
recruitment for Student Commissioners in March 2016.
DISCUSSION:
On October 20, 2015, Council interviewed and appointed two applicants for Ad Hoc Citizen
Committee and directed the Clerk Administrator to re- advertise the remaining opening for two
weeks. Seven applications were received (Attachment 1).
On December 15, 2015, prior to the Town Council Meeting, Council will interview applicants
for vacant Board, Commission, and Committee positions (Attachment 1).
Staff recommends Council first appoint Commissioners for the full terms for each
Board /Commission/Committee. The Town has received resignation letters for two unexpired
vacancies, one on the Arts & Culture Commission and one on the Transportation & Parking
Commission (Attachment 2). Therefore, staff recommends Council also appoint Commissioners

to fill the unexpired vacancies on the Arts & Culture Commission (1 year term) and the
Transportation & Parking Commission (2 year term).
Upon completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re-
advertise any vacant positions with the annual recruitment for Student Commissioners in March
2016. Recruitment for Student Commissioners for the Youth Commission, Community and
Senior Services Commission, Library Board, and Parks Commission is set for March 2016 with
interviews and appointments to be held in June 2016.
The next scheduled recruitment for these Boards, Commissions, and Committees is set for
September 2016 with interviews to be held December 20, 2016.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council appoint applicants to fill vacant Town Commission positions and
direct the Clerk Administrator to re- advertise any vacant positions with the annual recruitment
for Student Commissioners in March 2016.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
Is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.

Recruitment has begun for expiring and vacant positions for the Boards and Commissions. Below is an
update of the number of vacancies (due to unfilled positions), expiring positions, and applications
received by Board, Commission, and Committee.
• Those names listed under expiring terms with an asterisk indicate they were appointed to fill an
unexpired vacancy and therefore did not serve an entire term.
• Mathew Miller has applied for the Arts & Culture Commission, General Plan Committee, and the
Parks Commission.

I'd like to personally thank the Town of Los Gatos for allowing me the opportunity to serve as the Chair
of the Transportation and Parking Commission. I'm proud to have served on the Commission since
Jan 1', 2012
Moving forward into the 2016 calendar year, I'm at a crossroads between effective management of
both my public sector duties and my private sector duties each being equally important to me. That
said, having recently taken a new position demanding extensive travel, my ability to serve the public in
a manner that meets my own expectation has been impacted.
After much deliberation, I've decided to resign from the Transportation and Parking Commission for
personal reasons as of December 31 st in order to give the Town the ability to adequately recruit during
the new appointment period. I hope my four year term has served the Town well. Thank you for
accepting this resignation.
My experience has been extremely valuable and it has been rewarding working with all of you on Town
business. Someday I look forward to getting back into serving but for now I'll stay focused on a
seamless transition to new leadership. I'm always available as a subject matter expert in electric
vehicle charging or other technologies for the asking.

dedicated community member. I've always trusted the Town's leadership proven by this exceptional
place we live and will continue to support the progress you make.

Dear Christina,
I am writing to let you know that my family and I bought a house and we are moving.
Unfortunately, the new house is in an unincorporated area of Los Gatos so, per my
understanding, I will no longer be able to serve as a Commissioner on the Arts and
Culture Commission.
Accordingly (and with much regret), this email will serve as my resignation from the
Commission.
We are not officially moving into the new house until later this month so I will plan to
attend the meeting scheduled on December 16th - but that will be my last.
Thank you so much for everything you've done and for a wonderful two years. It has
been a pleasure to work with you, the rest of the people on the Commission and the
Town of Los Gatos.
Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise I will look forward to seeing you
soon.
