SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct appointment process for Arts and Culture Commission, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory
Commission, VTA - Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee Town Representative, Community and
Senior Services Commission, Parks Commission, Personnel Board, and Planned Development
Zoning Study Committee.
DISCUSSION:
On April 21, 2015, prior to the Town Council Meeting, Council interviewed applicants for vacant
Board, Commission, and Committee positions (Attachment 1). Applications were received for open
positions on all but the Parks Commission. Two individuals applied to two different appointment
opportunities (Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission and VTA - Bicycle and Pedestrian
Committee Town Representative). Applicants for the Planned Development Zoning Study
Committee self - identified which positions they were seeking on the Committee. The Council may
review the applications and find that one or more residents may qualify for the business experience
position as well.
Upon completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re-
advertise any vacant Board, Commission, and/or Committee positions.
The next scheduled recruitment for these Boards, Commissions, and Committees is set for
September 2015 with interviews to be held December 15, 2015. If the Clerk Department receives
enough applications prior to September 2015, Council may choose to schedule an additional
interview date prior to the September 2015 recruitment.

APRIL 16, 2015
Recruitment for student commissioners for the Youth Commission, Community and Senior
Services Commission, Library Board, and Parks Commission is currently ongoing, with an
application deadline date of Friday, May 8, 2015. Interviews will be held the week of May 18,
2015, and appointments ratified at the June 2, 2015 Council meeting.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council appoint applicants to fill vacant Town Board, Commission, and
Committee positions.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
Is not a project defined under CEQA, and no finther action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
