RESOLUTION 2014 -067 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS <br />AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUED EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FROM THE <br />SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND FOR TWO <br />ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS TO BE ASSIGNED AS MOTORCYCLE <br />TRAFFIC OFFICERS <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 30061(b)3 was amended with the <br />Governor's approval of Assembly Bill 3229; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos is entitled to receive approximately $100,000 <br />under the terms of the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund if specified requirements <br />are met as well as $100,000 from the City of Monte Sereno under the terms of the fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the State funding cannot be used to supplant current Town costs for <br />law enforcement and must be expended exclusively for front -line police services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town Council has considered the written request separate and <br />apart from the allocation of general funds for police services; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of <br />Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that the Town of Los Gatos authorize the <br />continued expenditure of funds from the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund for two <br />additional police officers to be assigned as motorcycle traffic officers. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, <br />1. The Town Manager is directed to continue the Supplemental Law Enforcement <br />Services Fund (SLESF) within the Town for receipt and disbursement of money received from <br />the County Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund. <br />2. The Town Manager is directed to promptly remit to the General Fund all funding <br />deposited in such SLESF fund for the additional funding of two Police Officer positions to be <br />assigned as motorcycle traffic officers. <br />3. The Town Manager is directed to submit reports concerning the expenditure of <br />SLESF funds to the Santa Clara County Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee <br />
