ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
THE PROPOSITION 1B FUNDED CURB, GUTTER, AND SIDEWALK
REPAIR AND REPLCAMENT PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO
ADVERTISE THE PROTECT FOR BID.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt resolution approving plans and specifications for the Proposition 1B funded Cm~b, Gutter,
and Sidewalk Replacement Project and authorize staff to advertise the project for bid.
BACKGROUND:
The adopted Capital Improvement Program designates finding for curb, gutter, and sidewalk
replacement projects and is consistent with the Town's goals to improve public safety and to
improve the quality of Town sheets.
Damage to curbs, gutters, and sidewalks is caused primarily by tree root growth. The Town has
many mature trees that were planted years ago, and despite their beauty, have outgrown the small
planter areas where they are located. Their roots have grown under sidewalks, and in some
cases, under the roadway which causes uplifts and extensive damage.
DISCUSSION:
Proposition 1B was instituted in November 2006 as part of statewide infrastructure bond package
to help local agencies with maintenance and unprovement to their. infiastructure system. Each
lnrmicipality is eligible to apply for this fund fiom the State according to their population.

RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
PPW 7OB NO. 10-12-PROPOSITION 1B FUNDED
CURB, GUTTER, AND SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROJECT
AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BIDS
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the Proposition 1B fimded Curb, Gutter, and
Sidewalk Replacement Project have been prepared by the Town Engineer and duly filed with the
Clerk Administrator; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos has reviewed said plans and
specifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council hereby approves the
phis and specifications for the Proposition 1B fimded Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk Replacement
Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk Administrator is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise the proposition 1B funded Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk Replacement Project
for bids in the manner prescribed by the Town Municipal Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos held on the 17°i day of May, 2010 by the following vote:
