RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
APPROVING AN ARCHITECTURE AND SITE APPLICATION
FOR DEMOLITION OF FOUR SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCES
LOCATED AT 25 FIESTA WAY, 56, 104-AND 108 VILLA AVENUE
(APNS: 529-34-024, 090 AND 091)
WHEREAS, pursuant to Govermnent Code Section 65353, the Town Council
conducted a public hearing for consideration of the demolition of four single family residences
as part of the Town Library project on January 11, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council considered the Historic Resources Evaluation that was
prepared for the residences; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council made the required findings for demolition of the
single-family residences as required by section 29.10.09030(e) of the Town Code as follows:
1. The Town's housing stock will not be affected because the houses to be demolished
were acquired by the Town a number of years ago specifically for the purpose of
developing a new library, only two of the units were used in the recent past as
temporary month-to-month housing pending the library project, one of the units (56
Villa) has deteriorated to the point where it is no longer habitable, and two of the
units were previously converted to office use (25 Fiesta and 104 Villa);
2. The existing structures have no architectural or historical significance as supported
by the October 2009 Historic Resources Evaluation prepare by Carey and Company
Architectural Consultants;
3. The Town does not desire to maintain the structures as they exist; and
4. The economic utility of two of the houses (56 and 108 Villa Avenue) is poor, the
houses at 25 Fiesta and 104 Villa are no longer used as living units, and the
proposed library design and site layout cannot be accomplished without removal of
the structures.
RESOLVED, the Town Council hereby approves Architecture and Site Application S-09-58
for the demolition of the residences at 25 Fiesta Way and 56, 104 & 108 Villa Avenue.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council held on the 11th
day of January, 2010, by the following vote:
